SUMMARY:The Informers - Brightons Best Live Soul\, Blues and Funk Band
DESCRIPTION:The Informers repertoire is characterised by soulful acoustic pieces that are strongly influenced by the classic sounds of Van Morrison\, JJ Cale and Marvin Gaye\, contrasted with driving blues that tips its hat to the legends of Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Lee Hooker\, complemented with a selection from the great soul/funk outfits from the 60’s and 70’s such as Marvin Gaye and Gil Scott Heron\, Roberta Flack\, William de Vaughan. The 5-piece band feature many references to Little Feat\, Steely Dan\, Bill Withers\, Robin Trower and John Mayer.

SUMMARY:Captain's Beard
DESCRIPTION:The Captain’s Beard are a pirate folk rock group from Brighton\, (the drinking town with a fishing problem.) Their tunes are a mix of the Pogues meet Tenacious D. Expect songs about beards\, awful second hand vans and inappropriate mermaids. They started back in 2012\, doing sea shanties WAY before they were cool. Their version of “John Kanakanaka” has over three and a half million streams on streaming platforms and features in the Hollywood movie “Operation Taco Garys.” Their first two albums “Same Ship Different Day” and “Completely Tankard” garner tens of thousands of listens every month. They have also won the “best album of 2024” award at the Celtcast awards in the Netherlands for their third album “Cannonballs Deep.”
